Information From Third Parties
Third Party Services. When you connect a Third Party Service (Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, etc.) to the Services or enable functionality from Third Party Services as part of your use of the Services, we may receive information from the applicable provider of the Third Party Service that you have consented to be disclosed pursuant to its terms and conditions, whether made available via an application programming interface or otherwise, as well as other Information about you or your use of the Services within that Third Party Service. Such functionality may also perform actions on your behalf on the Third Party Service that are known to the Third Party Service or others. Even if you delete your account on a Third Party Service, we will retain any Information provided by that Third Party Service. Similarly, if you delete or deactivate your account on the Services, any Information that we have disclosed with Third Party Services (in accordance with this Privacy Policy) may be retained by those Third Party Services subject to their privacy policies.
Service Providers, Education Partners, and other Third Parties. We may also obtain Personal Information from service providers, educational institutions who may engage in partnerships with Metana, and employers (“Education Partners”), other third parties, and publicly available sources, which may be combined with other Personal Information we have collected. For example, we may receive Personal Information about you from educational institutions that you have attended; financial institutions (e.g., related to student loans); government entities (e.g., related to education grants); employers (e.g. related to education or career initiatives); providers that we work with to verify, update, or append data to the information that we have otherwise collected about you; third parties that we work with to identify prospective students or other individuals who may be interested in our services; and other third parties they support or that work with us to provide or make available our Services.
Automatically Collected Information
We may automatically collect certain Information about your equipment, browsing actions and other patterns by using certain automatic data collection technologies when you visit, access and/or interact with the Services, including:
Log Files. When you use the Services, our servers automatically collect certain Information including Information that your browser and/or the device that you access and/or use the Services on, including but not limited to a computer, cellphone, or digital tablet (“Device”) sends whenever you visit a website and/or use the applicable Device. Such Information may include your IP address, browser type and settings, and other usage data.
Information about Your Device. We may also collect Information about your Device, including what type of Device it is, unique Device identifiers, and other data provided by your applicable third party service provider and/or Device manufacturer. You should read the policies of such third parties in order to learn more about what Information your Device makes available.
Other Non-Personal Information. Other Non-Personal Information related to your use of the Services, including usage, traffic data and other communication data and resources that you access when you interact with the Services.
The Technologies We Use
The Information we collect automatically (as described above) is Non-Personal Information. It helps us to improve our Services and to deliver a better and more personalized user experience by enabling us, among other things, to store information about your preferences and to customize our Services. The technologies we use for this automatic data collection may include:
Cookies (or browser cookies) – A cookie is a small file placed on your device. You may refuse to accept browser cookies by activating the appropriate setting on your browser. However, if you select this setting you may be unable to access certain parts of the Services. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, our system will issue cookies when you direct your browser to the Services.
Flash Cookies. Certain features of the Services may use local stored objects (or Flash cookies) to collect and store Information about your preferences and navigation to, from and on the Services. Flash cookies are not managed by the same browser settings as are used for browser cookies. Through our advertising partners (Google Ads & Microsoft Ads), a log of ads served to a website visitor are stored to improve ad services. These logs typically contain the visitor’s web request (including date and time of request), IP address, browser type, browser language and cookies that uniquely identify your browser. The log data is anonymized by removing part of the visitor’s IP address after 9 months. Cookies are removed after 18 months.
Web Beacons. Pages of the Services may contain small electronic files known as web beacons (also referred to as clear gifs, pixel tags and single-pixel gifs) that permit Metana, for example, to count users who have visited those pages and/or for other related statistics.
Local Storage. Data placed in local storage is per origin—the combination of protocol, host name, and port number as defined in the same-origin policy. The data is available to all scripts loaded from pages from the same origin that previously stored the data and persists after the browser is closed.
ETag, or entity tag. An Etag or entity tag is a feature of the cache in browsers. It is an opaque identifier assigned by a web server to a specific version of a resource found at a URL. If the resource content at that URL ever changes, a new and different ETag is assigned. Used in this manner ETags are a form of Device Identifier. ETag tracking may generate unique tracking values even where the consumer blocks HTTP, Flash and/or HTML5 cookies.
Google and Other Third-Party Analytics. We use a tool called “Google Analytics” to collect information about the use of our Website Services (e.g., Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit the Website Services, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to the Website Services). Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date that you visit the Website Services, rather than your name or other identifying information. The information collected through the use of Google Analytics is not combined with your Personal Information. You can learn more about how Google Analytics collects and processes data and opt-out options at http://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/. We also may use other third-party analytics tools to collect similar information about use of certain online Services.
The Services may also use a variety of third party advertising networks, data exchanges, traffic measurement service providers, marketing analytics service providers and other third parties (collectively, “Third Party Advertising Service Providers”) to, for example, serve advertisements on the Services, facilitate targeting of advertisements and/or measure and analyze advertising effectiveness and/or traffic on the Services. These Third Party Advertising Service Providers do not have access to any tracking technologies set by the Services except to the extent necessary to provide services to us in connection with the Services; however, these Third Party Advertising Service Providers may use their own tracking technologies to collect similar Information. Metana does not control these Third Party Advertising Service Providers, and/or their use of tracking technologies, which is instead governed by the privacy policies of any such Third Party Advertising Service Providers.

Additionally, we may use and/or disclose your Information in any other way we may describe to you when you provide the Information and/or when we receive your consent.
